CERTIFICATION · SOVEREIGN NUMISMATICS
Third-party certification by PCGS or NGC is the foundation of every legitimaterare coin investment. Certification provides three things raw coins cannot:verified authenticity, objective grading, and market liquidity. SovereignNumismatics sells only certified coins because certification is the linebetween investing and gambling.
When PCGS or NGC certifies a coin, their expert graders authenticate the coin(confirming it is genuine, not counterfeit, and has not been improperlyaltered), assign a numerical grade on the Sheldon scale (1–70), andencapsulate the coin in a tamper-evident holder with a unique serial number. This process eliminates the subjectivity that plagued raw coin transactionsfor decades.
Authenticity Guarantee
Both PCGS and NGC guarantee the authenticity of every coin they certify. If acertified coin is later determined to be counterfeit, the grading service willbuy it back. This guarantee does not exist for raw coins.
Objective Grading Standard
The di!erence between MS64 and MS65 can represent a 50–300% pricedi!erence depending on the series and date. Certification by PCGS or NGCprovides an independent, professional assessment that both buyer and sellercan rely on. This is why certified coins trade sight-unseen between dealers atpublished wholesale prices.
Market Liquidity
Certified coins have published wholesale bid prices on the Greysheet. A PCGSMS65 Morgan Dollar can be sold to any dealer in the country at the publishedbid. Raw coins require individual negotiation and subjective gradeassessment — a process that typically results in lower realized prices for theseller.
Both services are respected and produce market-liquid coins. PCGS coinshistorically carry a slight premium in the wholesale market for certain series, particularly classic gold. NGC coins are equally accepted and o"en carrylower certification fees. CAC (Certified Acceptance Corporation) verificationon either service's holder indicates the coin is at the high end of its grade —the strongest quality signal available.
PCGS and NGC certification ensures authenticity, accurate grading, and market liquidity — the three pillars that make certified rarecoins a legitimate asset class rather than a speculative collectible.

Every coin Sovereign Numismatics sells is PCGS or NGC certified. We'll showyou the population data and Greysheet values before you decide.
